While cleaning my house today, I came across an article in the newspaper, describing the impact of Pokémon on the youth of America. The fact that it was mentioned in a local newspaper article alone should show just how much of an effect video games can have on popular culture. It is important to remember the video games of the past because as more gaming franchises reach the masses, it is their predecessors that made us all interested in the industry to begin with.
If you’re into video games as much as I am, You probably already know about the Nintendo 3DS. I like to call it “The Wonder Portable” simply because it will be the first time a handheld is more powerful than its manufacturer’s current console. I have yet to see the 3D in action, but judging from 2D screenshots alone (particularly from the Resident Evil game) it would still be the best game system ever made. This is because Nintendo is finally releasing their top-tier games with current-gen graphics. It also looks like third parties will finally start developing AAA games for a Nintendo platform again. Just check out these sexy graphics.
The big news of this post is somewhat funny. Nintendo announced that they will announce the release date and pricing of the 3DS on September 29. That’s only 39 days from today. I am so excited that I may just literally jump through the roof when I hear the news. I know for a fact that Nintendo will be at New York Comic-Con this October, and I happen to have tickets. With the announcement of the release of the 3DS so soon before Comic-Con, I am almost totally sure that they will be showcasing the handheld there. If they do, expect to read (or watch) my impressions on this very website. As for the release date, I expect a Sunday in mid-November because:
A. Nintendo always releases things on Sundays and launches major systems near Thanksgiving; and
B. The regular Nintendo DS systems and games have stopped selling large quantities. If Nintendo wants to make money, they need to release their atom bomb of a handheld soon. If I were to bet my money on a single day of the month, I would say November 21st.
Until next time, this is Screath, signing out.
Edit 7/30/10: I believe that I found a solution to the videos splitting into parts and losing some footage. If I don’t title our feeds on my cell phone, everything works out. Keep this in mind when watching the clips mentioned in the post below because we will fix things in the future. Rajan also plans to rehearse. I’ll admit that our Ustream quality is still subpar, but we will try our best to improve.
Hey all you “Hindsight 64 Bitters” out there. This is your old pal Screath. Even tough I probably just scared away all of my fans with that statement, I’d like to let you know that we are far from dead. Why just last weak, Rajan and I did a short show on Ustream. You head on over to that section of the website to see his amateur review of the first Halloween movie, done live on my cell phone. We are working on improving the quality of our next review, so stick with us. In fact, Rajan and I are planning to review Halloween 2 tomorrow. Please follow the Ustream feed to be able to see and interact with our new content. It is far harder to follow the videos while they are not live because my phone splits them apart around every 3 minutes. I’m hoping to give you even more live stuff to watch in the future, so hang tight. It’s like I always say, “things happen.” If I skip out on you guys again, it’s simply because my life is not solely dedicated to this website. I really enjoy providing content for Hindsight 64bit, but sometimes other things in my life take priority. Until next time, this is Screath… signing off.
If you are confused by the title of this post, you should be. Trust me when I tell you that all will be explained in the Art section of my website. I think that you will all be pleasantly surprised at my little hidden talent. Peace out ya’ll.
It’s finally here; the first of what will hopefully be more films by yours truly. Of course, I was merely a cameraman on this fabulous production, but still, my mark on the final product can still be scene. You can see me in the credits under my personal YouTube name “Viralhazzard”. I would like to thank Josh, the director, for making all of this possible.
What’s up patrons of the web? Don’t worry, that was a rhetorical question. Anyway, I know it’s been a while since I last posted. The problem is that my creative juices have been sucked dry by school. Luckily, I’ll be graduating on June 11. In the mean time, I’d like you to know that I’ve been working on two movies that I plan to upload to the Viralhazzard Youtube account. I can’t promise anything yet because one film is still in the casting process, and the other was started, but not yet finished. I really don’t know yet if the cast and crew will be able to finish either movie because we are all available at different times.
The Pokemon Soulsilver review is now up.
Arkedo Series 03 – Pixel, is a fantastic game. I highly recommend getting it from the Xbox Live Indie Game Store now. It harkens back to the GameBoy games of old, where pixel art reined supreme. Unfortunately, modern games have lost some of their character as graphics got more realistic. Thankfully, Arkedo has managed to keep that same look and feel, while still making their game look high-res. Rest assured, this game runs in HD and 16:9 to boot. The gameplay reminds me of Super Mario Land 2 on the GameBoy. It’s simple, yet addicting, and overall, fun. They’ve even added their own gameplay elements, such as the ability to inspect objects to enter a maze and open up opportunities. There is also a roar attack that recharges after jumping on enough enemies. If you love classic platformers, like Super Mario Bros., as much as I do, you’ll love the adventures of Pixel the Cat.
The following story is based on actual events as well as a certain movie.
The Sega Dreamcast is an amazing console. It harkens back to the arcade games of old, but also provides more modern visuals. Plus, few other consoles are so easily filled up with custom homebrew. However, as a video game system, its innards are vital to its success. If your Dreamcast can’t read discs, my friend, you have yourself a lame horse. It wasn’t just my system that broke. Oh no, I went searching for others as well, all of which had faulty GD-ROM drives. Countless dollars poured out of my pockets and few of them were reclaimed. I needed a better method for finding the damn thing in good working order. I talked to a nearby retro gaming expert. Screath was the name. He told me that there was only one NTSC Dreamcast known to have a working disc drive. He even went further to say that only nine of them hadn’t been trashed. All that Screath could give me for my quest was a GPS that could find any Dreamcast within our US borders. In return, he wanted equal access to the system. It was a long journey. I had to go to from coast to coast until I had seven of them. None of them worked! While I was looking for the eighth, I received a package at the hotel I was staying at. Inside was a cassette tape. When I played it on my 1994 stereo a scratchy voice beckoned to me: “You must cease your search if you wish to remain safe.” It seemed that I wasn’t the only one looking for a Dreamcast. I decided to call up Screath. He told me that he’d give me an Atari 2600 if I continued my search, so I did. When I got to the eighth Dreamcast, my GPS beeped loudly. The last two dots were right next to each other. The ninth Dreamcast was right behind me in a purple van. A fairly beautiful woman busted out of the vehicle with a gun to my head. The bullet fired and I fell to the ground, covered in blood. I awoke back home. Screath had carried me there and brought me back to life with a defibrillator made out of Intellivision controllers. Somehow, he got both Dreamcasts and I needed to test them. They both seemed to run every game, which was weird. Had Screath been wrong? It was then that the expert himself told me not to jump to conclusions. When I tried The House of the Dead 2 with a light gun on my old 20 in. CRT, only the ninth Dreamcast worked. Just then, a portal opened up in the television. Out of it came Sonic the Hedgehog, strangely enough. Following the blue blur was Ulala from Space Channel 5. I shouted “shoot!” in anger. Unfortunately for me, that pink haired broad took the cue and shot me down. I never awoke from that fall. As I rest in peace, I know that the other people searching for the ninth Dreamcast were only out to save the world from my stupidity. Screath was only out for bloodshed. He’s probably leading an army of Sega mascots now, bent on domination.

This is a just a quick update on the Shirt Store. The two “Hax” shirts have been removed for similar reasons. I was sure that parody was legal, but Zazzle doesn’t seem to care. Again, the Triforce is not a copyrighted symbol, and the Kindergarten Cop shirt contains nothing copyrighted from the movie. However, these two shirts are still likely to be pulled. Please buy them while you still can. I will not be making any future posts about the removal of my shirts because doing so is getting tedious.
I love the Professor Layton series. It combines clever puzzles with a gripping story. Unfortunately, people outside of Japan have yet to play the third game and onward. The big problem is that the gameplay revolves around the player being able to read and understand the puzzles. This is very taxing on the Japanese translators. Until the moment when we can all enjoy Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel, this video will suffice, or will it?
In the same vein as brentalfloss, I have made my own “With Lyrics” song and video. You can check the YouTube page for lyrics and to rate and comment. I am also providing you with the MP3.
Recently, my Umbrella Corporation Uniform was removed from Zazzle because (apparently) using the symbol was a big deal when it comes to copyright infringement. However, I’m pretty sure that the other shirts do not fall into this category. For one, the Triforce is not a copyrighted symbol. I’ve seen the three triangles in countless other sources, such as for Halo 3 emblems. As for the Kindergarten Cop shirt, I didn’t use any copyrighted images or names on the shirt itself. Finally, the “Hax” shirts count under the Fair Use Clause because they are only a parody. Don’t quote me on any of this, but the rest of the shirts are pretty much legal to produce and sell.
In other news, I recently edited the layout of the site. It’s now even easier to get to my Ustream, the subcategories are on the left and easier to scroll through, and the convoluted “Forums & Other Links” page has been changed to “Even More!”. I hope you’ve had a great year so far. Until next time!
This is the first article in a while. http://hindsight64bit.com/bestsoundtracks.aspx
This bird can sing the Chocobo Theme from the Final fantasy series. How awesome is that? the main reason that I am posting this is to prepare ya’ll for the forthcoming release of Final Fantasy XIII in March. It’s one of the many games that I am anxiously awaiting this year.
I have plans to bring back my Ustream this year. You can find it at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/hindsight-64bit or on the “Forums and Other Links Page of this website. Peace out.
Out of all the new games that I have played this year, none have grabbed me like Uncharted 2. As much as I loved the first game, #2 two blows everything else from this generation out of the water. This is why I’m naming it Hindsight 64bit’s 2009 Game of the Year. Below is my review from Gamefly.com.
9 /10 In terms of presentation, Uncharted 2 is the best on the PS3 and any console for that matter. Fans of adventure movies will really like what Naughty Dog did with the storyline. The gameplay at times provides you with fast-paced action sequences in which you must maneuver Drake out of harms way. My only gripe is that the shooting can get repetitive occasionally. Thankfully, cutscenes and action sequences break everything up so you don't feel like your doing one thing for too long. If you love video games at all and own a PS3, this is a must-play.

Just today, most of my shirts disappeared. Luckily, I was able to remake them. I don’t know what caused this to happen. It may even happen again. Just in case, I would highly suggest buying whatever shirts you want ASAP. This is not a sales ploy. I don’t want the shirts to go just as much as you. If everything remains in the shirt store for good, please disregard this post.
Having just finished the Water Temple in Zelda: Ocarina of Time yesterday, I can safely provide you other achievers with this awesome shirt. Buy it if you want to support me and my website. Below is only one of the many shirts you can buy this design on.
Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing was already of interest to me, but now it’s a must-buy. Not only will the Xbox 360 version be the first true next-gen kart racer, but you can play as freaken’ Banjo and Kazooie. The video proves it.
